Asheville
ALIVE 2011 Celebrated the 29th Piedmont Classic
Asheville was “ALIVE”
to celebrate the 29th Annual Piedmont Classic. Congratulations
to all exhibitors! Thanks to all the spectators, sponsors, vendors
and our great show officials. A special thanks to the dedicated
volunteers that gave endless hours to create Asheville ALIVE 2011
from decorating to ribbon presenting to all the details that create
a show experience for all to enjoy. The competition was intense
as youth, amateur owners and professionals competed to take home
the Blue Ribbons at Asheville ALIVE 2011. The full show report
is not ready at this time, but we wanted to share show highlights.
The Honorable Mayor
Bellamy of Asheville attended our signature event Black
Tie & Boots Extravaganza on Friday night hosted
by BMW
of Asheville to experience the incredible
Stallion exhibitions and fine dining by Frankie Bones Restaurant.
Mayor Bellamy presented the “Official City of Asheville Proclamation
for Asheville ALIVE Days” to Jill Graff welcoming all exhibitors
and spectators to Asheville. The Mayor was in amazement as she
enjoyed the horses on Friday night and she returned with her family
to watch the classes on Saturday afternoon. The support of Mayor
Bellamy is very appreciated and important as it helps further
promote the Paso Fino horse beyond our show arena. The Stallions
– The Food – The Music – The Dancers - The Excitement – The People
– what a memorable evening for all ages!
A big thanks to MIX
WOXL/96.5 Radio for a Live Radio Remote on
Saturday morning outside the McGough Arena – Live broadcasts invited
the Asheville community to come out for the show with activities
and free giveaways in the Tractor Supply Youth Pavilion, live
DJ music, great food, a variety of vendors to shop and amazing
competition every day. A special thanks to Tractor
Supply Company as a Platinum Show Sponsor
- visit TSC for all your farm and equine supplies ! It was nice
to see so many newcomers in the stands that came out to watch
the classes and to enjoy the Paso Fino Horses as much as we do.
Thanks to everyone that took the time to share their horse stories
with the visitors – we received a lot of compliments about how
“friendly the breed is”.
Asheville ALIVE hosted
many special guests to the show including the Asheville
Visitors Bureau – Explore
Asheville and the newly appointed Buncombe
County Sports Commissioner. We’ve been partnering with the Asheville
community for marketing and promotion support for the Piedmont
Classic and we’re looking forward to working with them for future
events. Throughout the show, there were various media contacts
in attendance to feature Asheville ALIVE 2011. A special thanks
to Wayne Williams of Speaking
with Horses for joining us to produce a new
television show to air on Horse Racing staring in the fall 2011
– “Where
the Horses Are”. The show will feature
unique breed events such as Asheville ALIVE and the “Black
Tie & Boots Extravaganza” along with
a feature on Asheville. Wayne was the “voice” of the
2010 World Equestrian Games in Lexington all 12 days in addition
to many national equine expos and entertainment events. This was
a unique opportunity to further promote the breed.

Would
you like to be a Ribbon Presenter at Asheville Alive?
Hello everyone!
It is that time of year again where I start recruiting my ribbon
folks for the Piedmont Paso Fino's big show - Asheville Alive! The
dates are Thurs. June 23 thru Sun. June 26, 2011. I need everyone
especially this year as I've got another job to do during the show.
I am bringing my horse, Aries, and we are going to be doing Parelli
Natural Horsemanship demonstrations during the show. So I'll need
extra help this year as I won't be able to be down in the ring the
whole time. Please invite your friends to help also. If I have one
experienced person down there with a couple of new people that would
be fine. Remember everyone over the age of 13 can present ribbons
without an adult with them. Children under 13 must be experienced
with Paso Finos and be accompanied out to the presentation lineup
with an adult. We like for our presenters to wear black pants and
a white blouse/shirt. Accessories such as hats, scarves, ties etc.
are up to the individual. I am looking forward to a fun show this
year! Talk it up with all your friends!
Please contact Katy Nichoalds
via email Ariespf1234@gmail.com
or call (803) 673-2251.
Cheers naturally,
Katy
